Below are some "Basic" Math Problems which you've attempted during curriculum/supp. periods.

These questions should not pose too much of a problem for you now.

If you encounter difficulty in solving these/ take a long time, it is time for you to WORK HARDER / BE MORE ATTENTIVE IN CLASS! 

Try them out on your own now to be 101% sure of the appropriate way of solving it.


1) 1/4 of Ken En's money was the same as 2/5 of Roy's money. After Ken En spent 1/8 of his money, he had $24 more than Roy. How much money did Ken En have at first?

2) In a school, the number of boys was 3/5 as many as the number of girls. After 12 boys left the school, the number of boys was 1/3 of the number of girls. How many boys were there at first?

3) In a bus, the ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls was 3 : 5. After 12 boys left the party, the new ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls became 1 : 3. How many boys were there at first?

4) Ida had 200 stamps in her album. 75% of them are from Malaysia while the rest are from Singapore. After giving away some Malaysia stamps, the percentage of the Malaysia stamps reduces to 60%. How many Malaysia stamps does Ida have in the end.?

5) There are 110 P5 boys and P3 boys in a line. There are at least 3 P3 boys between 2 P5 boys. What is the most number of P5 boys in the line?

6) There was some water in a tank. The same amount of water leaked everyday. After the 12th day, 1/3 of the water was left. After the 14th day, there was 250ml of water left. How much water was there in the tank at the beginning?

7) The ratio of the number of chickens to the number of cows is 9 : 2. These animals have a total of 468 legs. How many chickens are there?

8) In the 2 classes 6-1 and 6-2, the total number of boys was 1/4 the total number of girls. The ratio of boys to girls in 6A was 2 : 3. The ratio of boys to girls in 6-2 was 1 : 9. If there were 18 more girls in 6-2 than  in 6-1, what is the number of pupils in 6-1?
