Ans to Qs...

1.Lung cancer, tuberculosis, asthma, SARS and a few extras:
  • Emphysema----caused by damaged air sacs.
  • Hay Fever----caused by allergic reactions to pollen of trees, grasses and other plants
  • Pneumonia---- Inflammation of the lung caused by bacteria, in which the air sacs become filled with inflammatory cells.
2. Our mouth does not have hair to trap dust present in the air we breathe in.

3. When a patient has breathing difficulties or is unconscious.

4. No, there were no plants then as there was no oxygen present on earth and plants need oxygen to survive like all living things.

5. Human lungs have a large surface area as it allows more effective and efficient gaseous exchange. Before we breathe out again, carbon dioxide in the air we breathe MUST be removed and oxygen must be absorbed by the blood cells. As the lungs have a larger surface area, it will have more area for gaseous exchange to take place.

6. Plants have tubes that transport food and nutrients from the stem to all parts of the plant while humans have blood vessels that are found all over the body to transport food and nutrients to all parts of the body. The tubes found in the plants are also known as the phloem which is the food carrying tube while the xylem is the water carrying tube.

Human blood vessels transport blood.
